Fethard has a long history of running a ‘Carnival’, which first started in 1926 and reached its peak in the 1940s when it attracted thousands of visitors from all over Munster, of course that was when Fethard had a railway station to transport the crowds. This annual Carnival / Festival remained an annual event up to 1996 and was continually used to raise funds for community projects.
