Fethard arts gallery is open
Fethard town is hosting an Art & Craft Walk which enterprisingly makes use of unused and unoccupied shopfront windows for local artisan crafts to display samples of their workmanship.

The programme is running right through the summer from 3rd June to 30th August with the shopfront windows of the town’s Main Street a literal shopwindow for all local talented craftspeople to showcase their work.

Marie O’Hara is the project leader and her experience of launching a number of events for the HSE,
National Housing Association and Community Development Projects in the past has been advantageous to her in organising this programme.

Tipperary County Council have agreed to waive the commercial rates in the window display buildings under certain strict conditions.

Approximately 30 art and craftspeople from the locale are participating in the Art & Craft Walk, displaying their original unique work.

It is hoped that the community and visitors will enjoy the walkabout provided for their pleasure in Fethard town.

Orders on a commission basis can be taken by any of the participants,
should anyone wish to have a piece of art or craft.

From Silver/Gold Design, Art, Lace, Photography, Tapestry, Reedword, Ironwork, Hurleys, Wood Sculpture, Porcelain, Knitting, Cards, Jewellery, Woodcraft, Pyro Wood Design, Candles.

There is something there for everyone’s taste.

Because this project is a self-sufficient one, Marie points out that “a patron or a sponsor with an interest in Art or Craft would be a major asset to the project” and appeals to anyone in a position to assist to contact her.

Marie would also like to sincerely thank the very many people and groups who have made this concept a reality and in particular the Fethard and Killusty Community Council for covering insurance costs .

So why not pay a visit to the walled medieval town of Fethard over the summer months to see and appreciate the amazing crafts on offer.
